Widow's Pension Application (for Sarah Sanders Hooper) contains statement of James Y. Shaw, "an acting Justice of the peace in and for the County aforesaid [Pickens] Do hereby Certify that I have been acquainted with Obadiah Hooper Deceased and Sarrah his wife since the year 1823 until his Death in 1839 and since with Sarrah Hooper his widow and all due faith and Credit ought to be Given to her Oath. ...I James Y. Shaw... Do hereby Certify that Obadiah Hooper a pentioner made his last Draw by power of attorney to James H. Hooper at the Office in Mobile...said power of attorney being sworn to before me on the 4th day of March 1839 and then Deceased on the 31st of May thereafter for I in Person saw his Remains Entered and when I wrote his will he acknowledged the said Sarrah to be his lawfull wife ...
